just wanted to share the finished product! forgive my hair. it decided to downpour the second we stepped out of the car. side note, if anyone from the charleston is reading this, you have to go to magnolias and order the seared scallop appetizer. it’ll blow your mind. seriously. i hope your holiday was filled with excitement, good food, and lots of love.

dress/ hm

merry christmas, everyone! i wanted to share my christmas eve look which is, as i mentioned, an old dress. last year we decided that our christmas eve tradition would be dinner at an amazing restaurant in downtown charleston, magnolias. being away from family is hard, but around the holidays, its even harder so doing something special and a lil pricey is what gets us by. this leads me to why i decided to recycle a dress. i have made it my mission for my daughter to have a bomb christmas and spending even a lil extra on myself just wasnt something i wanted to do. i got this dress from h&m years ago for my bridal shower. i still think its absolutely stunning. its from their conscious collection. i love it. my besty actually just let me open my xmas gift early which was the necklace shown. how perfect is it for this dress! thanks, muhree. it’s been a while so me and my family got to all get fancy so im really looking forward to our new christmas tradition. i cant wait to show ya’ll a pic when the look is all put together!

on a recent retail therapy session, i found two items that i just knew i had to have. this soft, shift dress (which i had eyed before), and this backpack. ive been looking for a smaller, leather backpack for a while so when i found this one at the impeccable pig in downtown charleston, i grabbed it! and i fell in love. lucky for you, this amazing boutique is having a great online sale this weekend. their amazing discounts are combined with free shipping which is always music to my ears! happy shopping. happy saving.

fall staple

today the blog is all about the denim jacket. a staple piece. this piece has really stood the test of time. growing up, i always recognized that no matter what my mom always had a nice denim jacket and now, even my littlest sister always has one. at one point i think she owned like 3. theyre a great transition piece from summer to fall or winter into spring. and it doesnt even matter if its old…if it fits, the age makes it even trendier. its that way right now with overalls. if you saved yours, your set… and youre really smart. i personally love the denim jacket over a dress, fancy or casual. it adds contrast and makes the outfit a little more edgy. again, something i love. edge. yes, the denim vest applies to all of the above which is what my daughter is rocking. maybe not so much the idea of keeping warm when the weather gets chilly but… it was picture day at preschool and i happen to think she looks absolutely beautiful…with a lil edge.

for the first time in a long time, momma got to go out! my besty was visiting from wi so we enjoyed a night in downtown charleston. i just want to say 1 thing about my friend, muhree. shes a solid friend and so creative. she inspires me. thats why these shots look so amazing. back to the ensemble. i wanted to dress this up with my nude aldo heels but for what we were doing, some boots seemed more appropriate. also, im upping my accessory game. im currently on the hunt for chain everything, and i found these great bracelets at a local consignment shop. couldnt wait to rock them, and i think they look great with basic black and denim. i just want to finish this by saying that if i could shoot in charleston every day, i would. its beautiful. i have an obsession with  all the windows on the old buildings. i love the atmosphere. i see myself living there when im old and rich in an apartment near king st. stopping by louis vuitton every now and then…

todays post is all about these platform sneakers. i realized recently that i didnt own a casual but cute pair of shoes to just throw on while running to target or soon, taking my child to preschool. sandals dont always work. i cant ALWAYS have my toenails painted. being alone on my birthday was the perfect opportunity to change that. these are from asos, truffle brand. now these are not full on spice girl.. werent some of theirs like 6 inches? crazy. i felt like i had weights attached to my feet all day, i cant imagine how heavy a few more inches would be. man, i loved the spice girls. i liked scary the best, my sister was a baby spice fan, and yes, we did own the dolls. now that im writing this, i wish i had a pic from their concert we went to or just of me with my GIRL POWER shirt on. 90’s bands were so great. who was your fav spice?

fringed denim

fringe is quite an obsession of mine. i love it. i think it adds the best kind of edge to any piece, especially a bag. ugh, ive wanted a fringed bag forever. ive eyed many… many out of my budget. pretty typical when it comes to handbags for me. but back to this vest. its denim, its fringed to the max, and theres that pop of detail on the back. i got this for a steal from asos. i always try to find the most marked down piece that i can when i check out the “up to 70% off” section. it’s a hunt. a game i like to play. asos probably has the best clearance section of any store. pairing this vest with more denim seemed right, and of course adding my leopard heels was a no brainer. so yes, theres a lot going on here, but it all works. it works because i want it to.

can we talk about this location as well? this is an abandoned strip mall that is just waiting for some incredible boutiques to fill it. i like the way these pictures turned out next to the brick and columns. it’s run down so it fits the style of my ootd…kinda grungy. definitely going to keep coming back. i thought it’d be nice to do a more formal outfit against the rough setting. so stay tuned.
